remote controled art.
after workining with string and wood to create distance. i reolised if i wanted grate distances i would have to look in rmotley doining something. in its simplest form i modified an rc car to indent or imprint on to paper. the car itself was very difficult to controle so the recponce on the canvas/ paper was iratic randon micanical.
i really like the way the pens worked the canvas as stey left quite pragile delicate lines. the intrest comes when you look very closley you cas see the small pauses and gitters of the car.
in the near futcher i will be experimenting with the media for leaving marks.

at this point tyhe wood became to bendy and uncontrolabe. through this i disided to continue but to do it on the vertical to minamalise bend in the wood.

i wanted to get as far away from the canvas as posibel and record the distance. i found the futher away i was from the cancas the more uncontrolable and iratic the pen/sculpture becomes. if u look at the drawn image u can see the ditiriation of the handwriting.
the pan was constructed from an ordinary chunkey marker weighted with led sheeting and suspended with twine.
it was great to use this outside as the elements affected how it was used. when it was windy the pen would swing in the wind and become very difficult to use. it would also tumble into a spin if moved to quickly.
makeing the pen i used a postage tube some wight card and a chunkey board marker
the pen mesures up to 4 feet tall and 15 cm thick.
with the pen i tested and exsperimented with it trying to write on large sheets of paper. i found it wasnt the ergonomics of the pen but the distance i was from the canvas. through this i disided to work with distane in a variaty of ways over the 2 week alective in suclpture.

over the holidays i had planed to make a sculpture from dead trees. sadly the type of tree i wanted i couldnt find.
through work in my sketchbooks i wanted to create something with the tree that expresses movement.
my previos disign was static but discribed the movement of a vortex. with this work the tree doesnt show any pasific movement but the wind moves each pice induvidualy. all the pices are put together in the way they came of the tree. i took the idea of broken pices from my previos work showing development.
these are working images. once i have the work fully finished and displayed i will put up finished pictures.
the inishal idea behind the vortex of water was a statictight. i thought the water vortex showed more movement. what i wanted to do was combine the two together.
in these images it shows the spirals almost tutching as the the first vortex is starting the next.
i used this pasific glase for its water like qualitys .
if i were to do this again i would like them to be hanging peases from the cealing. they would be on a much larger skale. the tips of the work would be barly touching the ground.

from the past images you can see i had created a siries of clay vortexes on the clay wheel. sadly they all exploded in the kilen. i disided not to throw out my work, but work with what i had. in the images you can see small buiscut pices of clay between the spiral forms. i did this to highlight the breakes in the work.
these spases coul be teken for many different meaning .the meaning i wanted to get across was capturing a step in of time in the movement.
i think it is inportant to not give up on something if its nt going exactly your way. i think its inportant to tacle chalenges within my own work.
